Whats In A Name?
At first glance Sela Coastal Homes sounds like a strange name for a homebuilder, but when you dig a bit deeper the name has significant meaning. Sela, is actually a Hebrew word, which means "rock" "cornerstone" or "to build a firm foundation".
I got into homebuilding because I wanted to give back to a community that helped my family rebuild after the devastating floods of Hurricane Harvey. I left a secure, well-paying job to venture into the unknown world of homebuilding even though I had zero construction experience… solely because I felt called to do so. I would go on to build hundreds of brand-new homes all over the Texas coast… mostly for lower income families who couldn't not rebuild post-Harvey.
Many years later I would again step into the unknown, not because it was safe, but because I felt called to do so, and Sela Coastal Homes was conceived. As both the owner and the homebuilder, I put the same love, care and commitment to excellence into every house I build. Sela is commited to building a structurally sound and hurricane safe home, even if it means putting a little less to the bottom line.

"The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on SELA (the Rock)". Matthew 7:25
This verse is not only the cornerstone for my company name, it is the foundation we build by.
Build Better. Build SELA.
